Tiny Library Concerts
November 28th, 2017 7:00-9:00PM - Tiny Library Concert, featuring Clouds & Mountains with Russick Smith
Folk-rock darlings Clouds & Mountains (cloudsandmountains.bandcamp.com) weave atmospheric, meandering melodies around delicately tailored rhythms. Based in Boulder, the band features singer-songwriter and local music luminary Macon Terry on guitar, bass, and vocals; Rachel Silker on violin, synth, and vocals; Robin Chestnut on drums and percussion; and Conor McHugh on electric guitar. Their latest album, High & Low, released in May, is a collection of songs recorded over two years on 2” tape machines during the band’s travels around the county. Clouds & Mountains is joined tonight by cellist and multi-instrumentalist Russick Smith (russicksmith.com), whose dynamic, eclectic compositions bridge contemporary and classical music and feature the performer on instruments ranging from mandolin to banjo to concertina to dobro.

December 12th, 2017 7:00-9:00PM - Tiny Library Concert, featuring Lillian + Anthony Ruptak
Guitarist and singer-songwriter Lillian is one of Denver’s best kept indie-folk secrets. Her warm, earthy voice and dreamily sparse songs have captivated audiences from Colorado to California to Oregon. A student of music since the age of six, Lillian draws inspiration from her childhood in the expansive desert of Arizona and an adulthood of adventures from flipping pizzas to counseling addicted homeless youth to working as a celebrity nanny. The one constant has always been her music - a thread that weaves and draws the web of her life. Lillian is joined on this special Tiny Library Concert double-bill by Anthony Ruptak, another gem of the Denver singer-songwriter scene. Ruptak has never been content with doing things the way they should be done. Raised in the high mountains of Bailey, Colorado, he left home at seventeen with only his guitar and a zealous drive to busk the streets of Denver. Since then, Ruptak has worked his way up from open mics to performing at Red Rocks and become one of the city’s most respected finger-picking folk artists along the way. We are thrilled to feature these two strong, emotive voices from the heart of Colorado’s growing, progressive music community on tonight’s Tiny Library Concert stage.

January 23rd, 2017 7:00-9:00PM - Tiny Library Concert, featuring The River Arkansas
The River Arkansas (www.theriverarkansas.com) is the project of band-leader Mike Clark (The Ghost of Michael Clark, The Haunted Windchimes, The Sugar Sounds) and named after the river he lives beside in Pueblo, Colorado. Delivering a mixture of heartfelt country, blues, folk, and Americana, Clark roots the band’s sound in his soulful, Dust Bowl-era voice and magnetic stage presence, as well as the gentle rhythm and swelling string sounds of some of the finest musicians from Longmont to Pueblo: drummer Robin Chestnut, cellist Danah Olivetree, violinist Rachel Silker, and repeat Tiny Library Concert performer Macon Terry (welcome back, Macon!) on upright bass.

February 2nd, 2017 7:00-9:00PM - Tiny Library Concert, featuring Jesse Manley and His Band
With the release of his critically acclaimed album, Dust, a recent collaboration with the Colorado Symphony, and five celebrated collaborations with the Denver contemporary ballet company Wonderbound, Jesse Manley has made a name for himself as a singer, songwriter, and musical partner to the arts. His sound has been described by audiences as “beautiful, jauntily melancholic, and unique” and by Westword as “a band that is rooted in the simplicity of folk music but performs as a chamber orchestra with complex arrangements.” Manley and his six-piece band (featuring members on violin, cello, upright bass, percussion, clarinet, and flute) draw inspiration from the eclectic folk music of the 1930s, creating haunting melodies from a past era. This is a rare local performance from one of Colorado’s most accomplished performers and bands -- don’t miss them in the intimate setting of our library!

March 20th, 2017 7:00-9:00PM - Tiny Library Concert, featuring 300 Days + Follow the Fox
300 Days (300daysbnad.com) exploded onto the Front Range bluegrass scene in 2016 with their fiery, highly-crafted original tunes and no boundaries. Since then, the band has electrified audiences across Colorado with the veteran musicianship of its members: the powerful, take-no-prisoners vocals and gravity-defying fiddle playing of Melissa McGinley (StereoFidelics), finely-honed songwriting from mandolinist and guitarist Nick Dunbar (Mountain Standard Time), and the tight rhythms of jazz-trained Dave “Pump” Solzberg (Fox Street All Stars) on upright bass. 300 Days combines their backgrounds in bluegrass, folk, rock, jazz, and Americana into a sound they call “prograss” that will knock you off your chairs and keep your toes tapping. 300 Days is joined tonight by Follow the Fox (www.followthefoxband.com), the acoustic roots music duo of Lyons, Colorado artists Sarah Cole and Dylan McCarthy. Centered around captivating songwriting and passionate performances, Follow the Fox has quickly been making strides in the Colorado acoustic music scene. From heart-breaking ballads to hard-hitting bluegrass tunes, their spell-binding harmonies and thoughtful arrangements give them an authentic sound all their own.
